Are You Looking For A New Elliptical?

When it comes to exercise, there is one machine that I absolutely have to have! It’s the elliptical – I just love the way it really works my legs and thighs and it really gets my blood pumping. The elliptical that I have was one I bought about a year ago and I use it non stop – it’s a Proform Crosstrainer 800. I absolutely LOVE it. The elliptical is one of the best ways to really get into shape.

Likewise, dissimilar to treadmills you can use an elliptical machine without extreme pressure to the joints, therefore depreciating the risk of impact traumas. A treadmill is one of the worst machines to use because it can cause harm to your knees and other joints! Notice when you are on a treadmill running that you are running on a hard surface “pounding” down on it which practically sends shock waves to your joints.

The elliptical does not do this. One reason is because your feet always stay ON the “pedals”. There are two main types of an elliptical machine. The first one is completely about the legs, thighs, calves, etc. The handles do not move. The other type of machine has movable handles – so as you are walking or running you are also able to move your arms which also causes movement in your pecs and abs! So with the ones where the handles move you pretty much can get a full-body workout!

Since this is one of my favorite machines lets go ahead and look at some of the vest ones available to consumers! All of these will obviously vary in price because they vary in options. Some of them have “fans”, mp3 jacks, digital faces, some of them (like mine) will even have a “trainer”. It was a little odd using “her” at first especially when “she” beat the crap out of on the elliptical. But the trainer (a male or female voice – whoever you choose) will go along with you while you are on the machine. She or He will “cheer you on” or tell you how long you have to go or how long you have gone. Yes, it was VERY weird. But I kind of like it. Who doesn’t love someone cheering them on? By the way – you can also shut the voice up as well with the push of a button!

Smooth, gliding, low – impact Stamina SpaceMate E100 Elliptical Trainer is easy on your joints. Here’s one of the most popular machines in the gym! But now, you can use it anytime right at home. Elliptical Trainer workouts burn a similar number of calories as jogging, but without the risk of injury to the back, knees, hips or ankles. Your feet never leave the pedals, so you get a low-impact workout. Foot pedals can be “worked” in a forward or reverse motion to target the muscles in your lower body in different ways. Good news: Variable resistance tension knob increases or decreases your workout intensity; Smooth, gliding elliptical motion makes it fun; Small design to fit most any workout area; Foam-covered, continuous handlebar for a full range of hand positions; Electronic fitness monitor displays speed, time, distance, calories burned or scans between all readouts; Ideal machine for losing weight, building endurance or toning muscles; 250-lb. weight limit; 32 x 22 1/4 x 52 3/8″h., weighs 35 lbs.; Minor assembly required.

  • Smooth-gliding elliptical trainer with compact footprint for space-challenged homes
  • Variable resistance tension knob makes it easy to increase or decrease workout intensity
  • Easy-to-read electronic fitness monitor tracks your speed, time, distance, and calories burned
  • Foam-covered, continuous handlebar with full range of hand positions; supports 250 pounds
  • Measures 32 x 52.4 x 22.25 inches (W x H x D); 1-year frame warranty; 90-day parts warranty
  • $99.99

These are three great brands. All three I have put on here obviously have different levels as far as prices go. In all reality – if you are going to get an elliptical – try to get the best one you can, without breaking the bank. Of course there is a big difference in prices versus space (Stamina SpaceMate E100 Elliptical Trainer). But there IS a difference in prices versus a cheap one thats $89 and is going to last a month versis one that is $289 and is going to last for years.
