On to kitchen and house ware. Sometimes this area can be a little iffy. You never know what she has hidden away in the pantry or cabinets. But if you do a little detective work you might find something she has really wanted for a long time. For my mom it has always been about the Kitchen-aid stand mixer. These are awesome – heck I want one too! Not only are the one of the most popular brands for kitchen stuff, but they are one of the most durable and rugged. Likewise, dissimilar to treadmills you can use an elliptical machine without extreme pressure to the joints, therefore depreciating the risk of impact traumas. A treadmill is one of the worst machines to use because it can cause harm to your knees and other joints! Notice when you are on a treadmill running that you are running on a hard surface “pounding” down on it which practically sends shock waves to your joints.

The elliptical does not do this. One reason is because your feet always stay ON the “pedals”. There are two main types of an elliptical machine. The first one is completely about the legs, thighs, calves, etc. The handles do not move. The other type of machine has movable handles – so as you are walking or running you are also able to move your arms which also causes movement in your pecs and abs! So with the ones where the handles move you pretty much can get a full-body workout!

Some of them have “fans”, mp3 jacks, digital faces, some of them (like mine) will even have a “trainer”. It was a little odd using “her” at first especially when “she” beat the crap out of on the elliptical. She or He will “cheer you on” or tell you how long you have to go or how long you have gone. Yes, it was VERY weird. But I kind of like it. Who doesn’t love someone cheering them on? By the way – you can also shut the voice up as well with the push of a button!
