There are certain holidays like Mother’s Day where I think it’s important to thank those people in our lives. Assuming you have a pretty good relationship with your mom – you probably have gotten her a little gift ever since you were a child. I know I did! I remember back when I was really little and we would have the “gift wagon” show up at our school. We had to borrow money from our parents in order to buy presents FOR them. Kind of silly now that I think about it – and all the various gifts I got her. But as I grew up and got older the gifts have gotten better and better (hey, she said so herself!) So if you want to get your mom or the “mom” in your life a special treat THIS Mother’s Day, you should check throughout this blog and in the post below. I’m going to list some of the stuff my mom has a certain love for including; Wine & Cocktail products and items, Cheese, Kitchen items, Home decor products, Electronics and a whole lot more. This is stuff that anyone would love getting – especially your mom. And the prices are pretty darn good as well. So have a look and see what you think! We are NOT screwing around with this guide. It IS literally THE Ultimate guide. If you can’t find it then tell us!
Flowers – Personally my mom has always hated roses. However, she does love other flowers such as tulips, carnations, sunflowers, daisies and more. Obviously for your “mom” you want to get her whatever she likes so try out some of these options below:
You might want to consider getting her flowers AND something a little extra. I don’t know about your mom but mine works awfully hard. She loves things like Spa Packages, Lotion & Bath stuff, or Essential Oils. Anything to de-stress her from a hard day at work.

If we want to go for something a little more decadent, and yes I mean chocolate, then you can consider things like Gift Baskets. One website I found online today actually let you customize a Mother’s Day basket yourself. This way you can leave out all the stuff you know she won’t like and include all the stuff she will like. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate – it seems to be an escape away from everything “stressful” even if just for a few moments! Cheese always was a huge “staple” in our house growing up. And I don’t mean the shredded stuff you buy from *ahem* Kraft either. I mean creamy blue cheeses and Stiltons and buttery Brie’s! Here are some varying baskets your mom might enjoy. You can also find the customized baskets on some of these sites as well so click the pic/link and shop away!

Or who knows. Maybe your mom doesn’t want chocolate, cheese, or flowers and candy. Maybe she likes some good old Electronics. She could have been eying that camera or Kindle all along! I got my mom an iPod a few months ago and she looooves it. It took her some time to get used to it but as per usual – we are a smart family – and she is getting along fine. Downloading movies and books from iTunes and deleting/replacing music. It’s always fun to see your mom having fun and each of them do it in a different way. So let’s take a look at some electronics next! Nothing too hardcore like a $5,000 Bose speaker system for her car or anything but some nice stuff she could really end up loving!
As far as cameras go and pictures – I think its always important to have even a nice little small one you can take with you to parties and get togethers. Easy to snap, easy to handle, but still takes good pics and is easy to download to your/her computer:
Something she could use a little bit more might be something like the iPod or MP3 player I got my mom. Hey, have some faith. She really could end up being able to figure this out all on her own. My mom has become a tech-whiz with her laptop, iPod and Bluetooth products. It’s actually pretty amazing considering she still can’t open a spaghetti jar without asking me first!
) Give these products a go – most ALL of them are under $200 so it won’t break your bank just trying to make mom happy! BTW I got my mom a set of the earphones below and she loves them – as do I!
If you want to spend a bit more of money (if you can afford it) and you know exactly what your mom wants you could also get her something like a laptop computer. This is actually my first lappy and I love it. I lug it everywhere. My mom got hers before me but that was a few years back. She ended up getting a bulky one that wasn’t too good with all the carrying around. So this time around she got a Toshiba that is actually quite light. She loves it. She can go to Starbucks on her break, she can take it to different rooms in her house – even outside for morning coffee. Over all it is a really nice laptop! So if you know what your mom wants (unless she is picky like mine) you can consider some of these laptops. All of these ARE above $200 so a little more pricey but eh how much do you love her? Jk!

On to kitchen and house ware. Sometimes this area can be a little iffy. You never know what she has hidden away in the pantry or cabinets. But if you do a little detective work you might find something she has really wanted for a long time. For my mom it has always been about the Kitchen-aid stand mixer. These are awesome – heck I want one too! Not only are the one of the most popular brands for kitchen stuff, but they are one of the most durable and rugged. Buy one of these and you WILL have it forever. Now they have all kinds of attachments that you can use with it too such as pasta maker, ice cream maker and juice makers. Really if your mom HAS one of these she can throw the rest of the clutter out (or give it away). They are a bit pricey, but if you figure in ALL the things it can do – it’s well worth it:
Maybe your mom loves Espressos and Cappuccinos well now you can buy those at cost as well. Starbucks over charges everything. Let’s get real. But if your mom has one of these guys below – she won’t have to spend a dime at Starbucks anymore! Some of these are (again) expensive while others – not so much. It depends on how much you want to spend. Remember that a $500 machine doesn’t always mean high quality and a $50 machine doesn’t always mean low quality. Check Consumer Reports and reviews online. But these are some of the top rated machines for Espressos and Cappuccinos:
Just a few to whet your appetite
) You could also try out different Wine Racks and refrigerators available. This is an easy one to figure out. Does your mom like wine? Then she will love one of the following items.
There is also a smaller version available as well – its just a single version one but still could be of interest to you or mom! Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage / Wine Chiller
Some of the other “house ware” items you can check out are things like cutlery and kitchen knives, wine glasses, candles (usually a big hit and not something you can screw up on). Another HUGELY popular thing? Gift Certificates. This way mom can get whatever she wants at a particular store. No stressing out for you and she can get exactly what she wants or has wanted for a while.
I didn’t even bother with the perfumes and I suggest that you don’t either. Not unless your mom has been wearing the same one for years. THIS can become dangerous territory and you will either end up buying her one that she hates, she is allergic to or it gives her headaches. I can never get this right – so I just don’t do it! You seem to wise up after 28 years of gifts. Most importantly – get your mom something she will like. It doesn’t have to be a $400 mixer or a $600 wine rack. I’m simply giving you ideas to run with! Mothers Day is about saying “Thanks” nothing more and nothing less. For me it’s a card, some flowers, and a nice “special” gift that I wouldn’t usually buy her or wouldn’t splurge to buy her. For you and your mom it might be something completely different. Whatever you choose in the end – I’m sure it will be something she loves! Good luck and remember to stay away from PERFUME!
